In the San Francisco Bay Area, the regional transit agency BART, is planning a comprehensive overhaul of its stations that includes art and design.
BART’s board of directors is tentatively scheduled to vote to create an art-in-transit program on August 13. We need your support urging them to allocate 2% of their capital funding for art and design. Please sign our pledge of support.
Art and design are powerful tools with a positive impact on rider behavior, safety, and experience. Artfully designed stations increase economic activity and investment in the areas surrounding stations and improve public perception of transit. With your help, we can bring these benefits to the Bay Area’s metro stations.
Countries world-wide have underground transit systems that inspire riders with art and design. Why not here?
